We are thrilled to share our recent experience at a great STEAM event that took place on Friday, February 29th, at Centennial Middle School, organized by the West Valley School District. It was an awesome afternoon event where locals gathered to celebrate STEAM, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. We gathered up the Nightingale Family team and had a great time!

A Vibrant Showcase of Innovation at Spokane Valley STEAM event

What made this event particularly special was the addition of art, making it a true STEAM extravaganza! From CO2-powered wooden car races to fascinating exhibits like the worm composting bin, Spokane Valley families were treated to an array of educational and entertaining experiences.

Engaging with Local Visionaries

Among the diverse lineup of exhibitors were notable organizations like Eastern Washington University (EWU), Washington State University (WSU), and even NASA! The event was truly a testament to our vibrant local community, with a variety of vendors showcasing their innovative projects and initiatives.

Empowering Through Dental Technology

As your go-to Spokane Valley dentist, our office saw this event as a fantastic opportunity to engage with our community and introduce kids to the technology we use in our dental practice. Kendall, Dr. Jimmy, Marggo, Mandy, and Bonnie were all there representing our office.

We set up an interactive booth featuring an “I Spy on the X-ray” game, where attendees could test their dental knowledge while having fun.

But the real star of our booth was the PrimeScan machine, which we proudly displayed to demonstrate how we digitally scan teeth for precise dental treatments such as fillings, crowns and dental implants. Not only did we scan teeth, but we also showcased the versatility of our technology by scanning other items like Carson’s ear (Dr. Jimmy’s son). It was incredible to witness the marvel on people’s faces as they witnessed firsthand the advancements in dental technology.

Hands-On Learning with Dental Anatomy

We also had a collection of typodonts on display, allowing attendees to get hands-on experience and learn more about dental anatomy. A typodont is a dental model displaying 3D teeth and gums and the kids thought is was great to be able to pick up, hold and closely inspect a mouth full of teeth!

Fueling Curiosity and Creativity

Overall, the Spokane Valley STEAM event was a resounding success, igniting curiosity and sparking creativity among attendees of all ages. As your trusted dentist near me, we’re committed to supporting our local community and fostering a love for learning in the next generation. We can’t wait to see what innovative ideas and projects emerge from events like these in the future!
