Cosmetic Dental Crowns:

Why/when would you need a crown for cosmetic reasons? Sometimes it’s time to replace a tooth simply because it looks bad or is an undesired shape.  We are experienced in creating beautiful teeth and want you to be happy with your smile! Let us help you achieve the smile of your dreams by restoring your tooth with a crown.

Why Do I Need a Dental Crown?:

When the structure of a tooth is too damaged to be fixed with a filling, a crown may be a great solution. Crowns (or artificial teeth) replace a cracked or severely damaged tooth and can also be needed after a root canal procedure if there is not enough tooth structure remaining.

What Should I Expect During a Dental Crown Appointment?

First appointment:  We thoroughly assess your affected tooth and surrounding teeth to determine your unique needs. If a dental crown is needed, we make sure you are comfortable and confident in moving forward with your dental crown. We also determine if your crown will be done “same day” or in 2 visits (this depends on urgency and availability).

Dental Crown Appointment:

In all dental crown appointments, first, the area is sufficiently numbed and the tooth is filed down with the outer layer of the tooth removed.

In most cases (and in the case of a dental crown emergency) we can provide your completed dental crown on the same day as your first visit.

Same Day Produced Crown: An intra-oral camera wand is used to create a 3D image of your tooth and the data is sent to our in-house crown fabrication machine.  The custom crown is then “printed” while you wait.  The completed permanent crown is then fitted into your mouth.  We work to make sure the fit feels natural and you are happy with your new dental crown and bite.

External Lab-Produced Crown: After an impression of the area around the tooth is taken, a temporary crown (artificial tooth) is applied and the mold is sent to a lab to have a custom artificial tooth (crown) created.

At your permanent crown placement appointment, we remove the temporary crown and place the new custom crown for a perfect fit. Our dentists ask you to bite down several times to ensure that your bite feels as natural as possible.

What to Expect After Your Appointment:

You may feel some discomfort after your crown as your body settles and recovers from the irritation of the procedure. Any irritation or discomfort should subside after a few days. Please feel free to call the office at (509) 927-5909 with any questions or concerns.

Dental Crown Insurance Options:

You might ask, “Can I get a dental crown without insurance?” or “How much does a crown cost?”  We are here to help with all of your dental crown financial questions.  We accept most employer-sponsored insurance and help with payment plan options if you don’t have dental insurance.  We also offer a dental membership that extends a 15% discount off the cost of all dental procedures.  Give us a call at  (509) 927-5909 and let us ensure you are confident with your payment arrangements and that you get the care you need.
